NEDA RO2 conducts RPMES re-tooling workshop for a more effective M&E

Some 26 participants, 18 from Project Implementing Agencies and 8 members of the Regional Project Monitoring Committee Project Monitoring Team (RPMC-PMT), participated in a Re-tooling Workshop on the Regional Project Monitoring and Evaluation System (RPMES) conducted by the National Economic and Development Authority RO2 (NR02). This activity was held on December 13, 2018 at the Pamegafanan Hall, NEDA Regional Office, Carig Sur, Tuguegarao City.

The workshop was designed to re-orient project implementing agencies and the RPMC – PMT on the importance of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), and their respective roles during the conduct of M&E activities. This is in recognition of the importance of the RPMES as an institutional mechanism on monitoring and evaluation of all development programs and projects implemented nationwide.

NRO2 OIC – Regional Director Dionisio C. Ledres, Jr., in his opening and welcome remarks, thanked the participants for attending the workshop in spite of their busy work schedules and Christmas-related activities in their offices. RD Ledres encouraged all participants to continue as committed partners in monitoring and evaluating programs and projects implemented in the region.

Ms. Mageline S. de Laza, Chief of the Project Monitoring and Evaluation Division (PMED) and her staff gave updates on the RPMES. She emphasized the importance and need for M&E in facilitating the implementation of programs and projects in the region. Other M&E mechanisms and evaluation tools such as Impact Evaluation and Theory of Change were introduced during workshop.

Participants to the activity were from the DA, DAR, DENR, DOH, DOLE, DPWH, DOST, DSWD, and NIA. Reports regularly submitted by these agencies serve as input to the quarterly RPMES reports prepared by PMED. Other implementing agency participants present were from the BFAR, OCD, and TESDA. Those from the RPMC-PMT who participated were representatives from the Provincial Local Government Units of Cagayan, Isabela and Nueva Vizcaya, DBM, DILG, PIA and two RDC – Private Sector Representatives.
