Carrying the theme “ISAPLANO: Bagong Philippine Development Plan Para sa Patuloy na Pagsulong”, the celebration started with the participation of the RDC2 members, as well as the provincial and municipal planning and development coordinators of the region in the PDP Forum for Planners.
NEDA2, as the lead agency and the Secretariat to the RDC2, conducted a two-day training and workshop on “Completed Staff Work, Backstopping, Office Protocols, and Document Writing”. The RDC2 Secretariat and secretariats of the regional bodies in the region such as the Regional Risk-Reduction Management Council, Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, Regional Task Force on Covid19, Regional Statistics Committee, and Board of Regents of state universities and colleges attended said training in-person. Director Putil Suharni C. Samanodi-Candao of the Legislative Research Service of the Senate of the Philippines, and RDC 10 Vice-Chair and NEDA Regional Director Mylah Faye Aurora B. Cariño served as resource persons.
As part of its objective to increase the public’s awareness on the role and organization of the RDC, advocacy materials were posted daily in the NEDA and RDC Facebook pages. The Council was also featured in the Philippine Information Agency 2’s weekly program, “Tipon-Tipan sa PIA”. Here, the RDC2 Secretariat composed of NEDA2 officials discussed the role of the RDC, its ongoing reorganization and current undertakings.
Also, during the Tipon-Tipan, NEDA2 Division Chief Gina V. Dayag took the opportunity to share the ongoing formulation of the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 and its regional counterpart, the Cagayan Valley Regional Development Plan, which are anchored on the current administration’s eight-point socioeconomic agenda.
The final activity of the week-long celebration was the conduct of the Private Sector Representatives (PSR) Action Planning. The PSRs shared the specific programs and projects which they intend to support during their three-year term in the RDC2. Several resource persons from the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Trade and Industry, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Department of Tourism, and Department of Agriculture were invited to share their agency’s priority programs, projects and activities to which the PSRs may partner with in its implementation.
The RDC2 sectoral committees also held their third quarter meetings during the week as follows: the Infrastructure Development Committee conducted its meeting on September 28, the Social Development Committee on September 23, the Economic Development Committee on September 28, and the Regional Government Center Management Committee on September 22.#
