SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela, March 6 (PIA) — Hundreds of residents availed themselves of mobile health services dubbed “Lakbay Buhay Kalusugan” (LKB) on February 28 at the Bulwagan ng Mamamayan in this city.
The LBK is a program of the Department of Health (DOH) launched last year. It offers mobile consultation and examination services in a bus with medical facilities.
The program also is offers health classes, storytelling sessions, and entertainment shows.
Dr. Rio Magpantay, Center for Health Development 2 Director, said that the LKB is designed by the DOH to serve the remote areas in the country where it delivers health services.
Dr. Magpantay said the LBK is a nationwide comprehensive and multi-channeled health promotion campaign which aims to bring information and education to families in remote communities in congruence to the government’s health reform agenda of universal access to health care.
Myla Cabanting, one of the mothers who availed herself of the maternal service check up during the LBK caravan in the city, said that she appreciates this program of the DOH for reaching out to poor mothers like her.
