CABARROGUIS, Quirino, March 20 (PIA) -=- The Bureau of Fire Protection here has sought the support of the provincial government in rehabilitating their unserviceable fire equipment and for the acquisition of a new fire truck to improve their services during emergencies.
Chief Inspector Rogelio D. Parallag, fire marshal, asked Governor Junie Cua to facilitate the agency’s request for a firetruck from the BFP national headquarters intended for the municipality of Saguday and one rescue van/ambulance and rescue supplies and equipment to be used in responding to emergencies.
Parallag reported that Saguday town does not have its own firetruck and at present, the BFP only has five fire trucks: one Isuzu Morita 1979 model owned by Aglipay FS; one Roughneck 1982 model owned by Cabarroguis FS; one Isuzu Anos for Diffun FS; Hyundai model 2003 for Maddela FS and Isuzu Morita 1979 model for Nagtipunan FS.
He likewise requested the different local governments to help them address their concerns on the lack of fire hydrants in the municipalities of Aglipay, Saguday, Nagtipunan, and Saguday.
“There are only seven fire hydrants; five in Diffun and two in Maddela but only five of them are operational. The two hydrants in Diffun are defective,” the provincial fire marshal added.
Parallag said they have already initiated the activation of unserviceable hydrants and the maintenance of existing serviceable fire hydrants.
Meanwhile, Cua said he will ask Congressman Dax Cua to facilitate BFP’s request for a firetruck. He also urged the BFP officials and the municipal chief executives to plan for the construction of more fire hydrants in the different municipalities.
