CABARROGUIS, Quirino, March 22 (PIA) — The provincial government here recently recognized 12 women with exemplary accomplishments as mother, wife and community leaders as outstanding women of Quirino in the recent celebration of Women’s Month dubbed as “Pagpupugay sa mga Kababaihan ng Quirino.”

The awardees were Lilia A. Lucena-Aglipay; Remegia B. Caldaera-Aglipay; Fely D. Manuel-Cabarroguis; Belen T. Domingo-Cabarroguis; Gilda G. Reola-Diffun; Dolorita T. Olpindo-Diffun; Gloria J. Fontanilla-Maddela; Florida Curameng-Maddela; Margarita B. Gallad-Nagtipunan; Agnes B. Bernasol-Nagtipunan; Maxima M. Cacanindin-Saguday; and Angelita Songcuan-Saguday.

The said women were chosen based on the following criteria: with children who are college graduate or in school, in good health or well-nourished and with good reputation; with good marriage bond; leader in the barangay or of organizations such as Rural Improvement Club, barangay and religious groups, and with clean home surroundings planted with ornamental, herbal and vegetables.

In his speech during the awarding ceremony, Gov. Junie E. Cua thanked the women for their active involvement in the development of their communities and as source of joy and inspiration of their families

Cua said the days when women were only regarded as second to men are over, and women already have equal opportunities with men in all aspects such as health, politics, education and others.

The governor added that the provincial government has been providing livelihood trainings and projects for women organizations so that they can earn while taking care of their families.

Likewise, Cua said free pre and post natal services have been provided in different accredited birthing clinics and hospitals to eliminate maternal and child mortality in the province.

“We do not want to hear a woman dying while giving birth due to lack of facilities, Cua emphasized as he advised the women and their husbands to practice birth spacing.
