STO TOMAS, Isabela, March 26 (PIA) – Celebrity couple and volunteer advocates Mikee Cojuangco and Robert “Dudut” Jaworski, Jr., called for more volunteers to join the Bayani Challenge for nation building in Isabela province.

Dudut Jaworski, in a media interview, said his family has been active in volunteerism activities and advocacy.

“The essence of volunteerism here, especially in the Gawad Kalinga house building concept, is not just building a home for the homeless but it is more on helping each other, making better Filipinos to bring back love and care to each other,” Dudut stated who brought along with him his wife Mikee and their two kids.

The couple is representing the Gawad Kalinga foundation, which is one of the main sponsors of the Bayani Challenge. They visited the area of service here to show support to the volunteers.

“I brought here my whole family to show support to our volunteers who are now working not for themselves but for the people and the community, especially the poor. We went to the core shelter construction area and the river clean-up drive and I saw thousands of young volunteers who are very eager to work for development,” Dudut said.

Mikee said Bayani Challenge is a good opportunity for people who are willing to help as she believes that there are many individuals who want to share their time and effort in volunteer works but there are no opportunities to do it.

Mikee, who is a very active organizer of different volunteer advocacies such as Gawad Kalinga, family run, sports activities and worldwide fund for nature, said she will never get tired of doing volunteer activities as an effort to help build a country for the future of the next generation.

The volunteer and celebrity couple lauded also the conduct of the Bayani Challenge in Isabela province as they saw how supportive the government and other civil society organizations that merged in organizing the events.

“This is a very successful activity which could be an eye opener to others, realizing that through volunteerism we can achieve growth and development. I guest next year’s Bayani Challenge will be more meaningful involving hundreds of thousands of volunteers in all provinces,” Dudut and Mikee said.
