BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, March 26(PIA) – Provincial candidates here yesterday joined the multi-sectoral call for a peaceful, orderly and honest conduct of the upcoming May 13, 2013 elections.

The highlight of the political gathering was the signing of the Peace Covenant at the St. Dominic Parish in this town which was attended by most provincial candidates from congressional, gubernatorial, vice gubernatorial and provincial board member candidates.

The event was organized by the Philippine National Police(PNP), Commission on Elections(COMELEC) and the religious sector headed by Bishop Ramon Villena of the Diocese of Bayombong and Quirino.

“One of the major provisions of the Peace Covenant is the respect for each candidate from the campaign period until the election day and their adherence to peaceful means that will contribute for the orderly and honest conduct of the elections,” said Police Senior Supt. Valfrie Tabian, police provincial director.

He said the province still remains as one of the peaceful provinces in the country and is not considered or categorized as an election hotspot for violence.

“With the vigilance, respect to the law, cooperation and commitment of everyone to peace, there is no way that untoward or violent incidents will happen,” Tabian added.

He however stressed that they have laid down their security plan for the May 13 elections in coordination with their allied organizations to ensure the peaceful, orderly and honest conduct of the elections in the province.
