The Infrastructure Development Committee (IDC) discussed the proposed flood control measures in Cabagan, Isabela and the tourism project in Lal-lo, Cagayan, as well as endorsed the infrastructure chapter of the Cagayan Valley Regional Development Plan (CVRDP) 2023-2028 Midterm Update during its third quarter meeting on August 26, 2025 at the DEPDev Regional Office 2 in Tuguegarao City.

The IDC guided the municipality of Cabagan on how the proposed riverbank protection structures would be funded, and referred the proposal to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the conduct of a feasibility study. Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) Reynold M. Gumiran emphasized that the project will protect the communities from flooding, reducing economic damage to infrastructure and properties.

To highlight the iconic bridge as one of the travel destinations in Cagayan, Lal-lo Municipal Tourism Officer Rebecca D. Bautista presented the proposed installation of aesthetic lights at the Magapit Suspension Bridge. To preserve the structural integrity of the bridge, installation of lights can be done after its retrofitting, and it will be included as part of the municipalityโ€™s proposed tourism infrastructure package, including the construction of esplanades and docks in the Cagayan River.

In attaining the region’s target of expanding and upgrading infrastructure, the IDC also supported the updated strategies and targets laid down under Chapter 13 of the CVRDP 2023-2028.

The meeting was presided over by DEPDev Assistant Regional Director Leomar C. Israel as the IDC Interim Chair.
