The NEDA Regional Office in Cagayan Valley (NRO II) trained the members of the Regional Geographic Information Network (RGIN)  last March 4 and 9 on the use and navigation of the RGIN Geoportal.

The RGIN Geoportal is developed by NRO II in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology Region 2. It is a web-based open source platform that facilitates the collation, sharing, management, publication and collaborative use of geospatial data. It packages several mature and stable open-source software projects under a consistent and easy-to-use interface, allowing users to share data and create interactive maps.
The training was organized by the Development Research Division of NRO II in preparation for the full operation of the Geoportal this year. It was conducted in two batches participated by 56 RGIN Coordinators and GIS experts of line agencies and LGUs in the region. They were oriented on data standards and policies as well as privacy setting, metadata editing, and map styling during the training.
The NRO II, as RGIN secretariat, commits to improve the Geoportal in preparation for its full operation by May 2021.
