TUGUEGARAO CITY, April 14 (PIA) — Three barangays of Cagayan Valley Region are among the national finalists in this year’s search for Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Award (LTIA).
The regional selection committee has endorsed Barangay Centro East, Santiago City, Isabela for the city category, Barangay Centro 1, Sanchez Mira, Cagayan for the 1st-3rd class municipality, and Barangay Ibung, Villaverde, Nueva Vizcaya for the 4th to 6th class municipality category.
Estela Aggabao, chief-local government monitoring and evaluation of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 2, said the three emerged as last year’s champions in the regional level of LTIA search and they are qualifiers for the national level.
The selection committee, composed of DILG, Philippine Information Agency (PIA) and Philippine National Police (PNP), conducted re-assessment on the documents of the three contenders to cope with the requirements of the national evaluators.
Geneviv Calimag, focal person of the regional search, said assessment include how serious the Lupon members in following the settlement procedures to ensure high standard of case settlement and in the maintenance of peace and order in the community.
Other than this, the Lupon must also have their regular meetings to enhance further their settlement strategies, separate room as settlement area, capacity building activities, resourcefulness and effectiveness of case settlement strategies applied.
