CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela, April 30 (PIA) – The city government through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) has formed last week the City Inter-Agency Council Against Human Trafficking (CIACAT) as a measure to prevent human trafficking in the city.
Rubilyn Ancheta, social welfare officer of CSWDO – Cauayan city, said the formation of the council will ensure the safety of the residents against human traffickers who are swaying people by offering good and decent jobs both locally and abroad, but in reality the victims are forced to join prostitution and become sex slaves.
The CIACAT is composed of the Department of Justice as chairman, police, city local government operations officer and other offices and nationalbased government agencies based in the city.
Aside from the CIACAT, the council also formed a Quick Response Team which will immediately respond to cases of human trafficking in the city.
The quick response team is composed of the Department of Justice, Cauayan city police office (CCPO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) -Cauayan City, City Local Government Operations Office (CLGOO), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), Ligangmga Barangay-Cauayan city (LMB), Bureau of Immigration (BI)-Cauayan City and Isabela Volunteers Against Crime (IVAC).
