TUGUEGARAO CITY, April 30, (PIA) – The labor department, together with its attached agencies, is set to conduct two job fairs in region 2 this labor month.
Atty. Sixto Rodriguez Jr., labor regional director, said a job fair will highlight the Labor Day celebration in Santiago City tomorrow wherein 40 companies for local and overseas employment will be joining to serve applicants for the 1,200 job vacancies for local employment and at least 2,000 jobs for overseas employment.
He also stated that there will be another job fair here in this city on May 3 to accommodate those applicants from Cagayan province and northern Isabela area.
“We have plenty of job vacancies; however, we have some problem on job mismatch. Applicants for certain vacancies do not fit their qualifications that is why we advise our job seekers to upgrade their skills and secure certifications from different agencies giving skills development trainings to fit in the vacancies,” Rodriguez stated.
On the other hand, the attached agencies of DOLE such as the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, National Labor Relations Commission, National Conciliation and Mediation Board, Technical Education Skills and Development Authority, Professional Regulations Commission, and Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board to entertain queries or assist individuals who concerns on their respective programs.
Rodriguez also informed that there will be some labor associations who will be awarded with financial assistance in Santiago City as part of the services caravan to be staged tomorrow.
