TUGUEGARAO CITY, May 9, (PIA) – Media practitioners of Cagayan offered mass today to seek blessings of the Almighty Father and their safety for the conduct of the election coverage on Monday and Tuesday.
The said mass was spearheaded by the Philippine Information Agency Region 2 (PIA-2), held at its Conference Hall, attended by representatives from different media institutions in the province.
Fr. Domingo Langcay, officiating priest, encouraged the media practitioners to serve as instrument of truth during the election and to campaign for fair election.
He also prayed not only for the safety of the media practitioners during the coverage but also for the electorate to choose wisely the best candidate who will serve for the interest of the community and the public, not of their own personal interest.
“I know you have a very risky job for the election, but you have to be brave because your are the mouthpiece and the eyes of the public in guarding the election,” the priest said.
The priest further called on voters not to sell their votes and their freedom of suffrage to elect one who could really serve the nation and bring back the clean conduct of election in the country.
PIA Regional Director Purita S. Licas, chairperson of the Informers Club, said the mass was offered to pray for the fair and safe election considering that the province of Cagayan is one among the 15 areas of concern in the country.
Licas also encouraged the media practitioners to be apolitical to maintain public service without inclination to any of the candidates.
