CABARROGUIS, Quirino, May 21 (PIA)— Some employees of the Provincial Budget, Accounting and Information Technology Offices of the provincial government had undergone a weeklong training on the e-NGAS or the electronic New Government Accounting System (Version 1.2.2 in preparation for its full implementation during the next quarter.
The participants who were divided into three teams namely the interconnectivity, accounting and budget teams were trained on the basic operations of the e-NGAS and how it will be implemented.
They were also oriented on the features of the eNGAS such as accrual accounting, recognition of depreciation, responsibility accounting, project monitoring, enhanced chart of accounts and security control for data integrity.
The training was conducted by some personnel of the Commission on Audit Regional Office composed of Ohnie Ezra E. Palencia as the lead resource person, Ernesto J. Odpaga Jr, Judith Maguigad and Erwin M. Sepanton as assistant resource persons.
Palencia said the eNGAS is a computerized version of New Government Accounting System which has been developed by the Commission on Audit for installation in all national, local and corporate government agencies to enhance uniformity in the application of government accounting rules and facilitate the consolidation of financial reports.
The system has been designed by the COA to standardize recording and reporting of government financial transactions, consolidate Financial Reports for National Government Agencies (NGAs), Local Government Units (LGUs) and Government Owned &/or Controlled Corporations (GOCCs), align the government accounting system with International Accounting Standards (IAS)/ International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), International Public Sector Accounting Standards, etc., and ensure accountability and transparency in government financial management.
Meanwhile, the eNGAS will be fully implemented in the province as soon as the concerned offices will complete the collection and encoding of the data like inventory of equipment and facilities, financial transactions and other reports.
