The members of the Regional Development Council 2 (RDC2) expressed their unanimous support to the conduct of the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN) during the recently concluded joint meeting of the RDC’s Advisory Committee (AdCom) and Executive Committee (ExCom) held on April 28, 2015 at the Pamegafanan Hall of the NEDA2-RDC2 Building.

During his presentation on the details of the 2015 POPCEN, RDC2 Secretary and NEDA Assistant Regional Director Victor B. Ubaldo said that this mid-decade census which will be conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) aims to update the population count in the 42,029 barangays across the nation. He added that data from the census will serve as basis for both the government and the private sector in the formulation of future development policies, plans, and programs.

To ensure that the census will be conducted smoothly, the PSA created census coordinating boards at the regional (RCCB), provincial, and city/municipal levels. In Region 2, the RCCB is chaired by the NEDA, with DILG as its Vice-Chair.

ARD Ubaldo added that the census will run for 25 days from August 1-31, 2015 with August 1 as the reference date for the census data.

RDC 2 Acting Chair and NEDA Regional Director MaryAnne ER. Darauay also enjoined the RDC2 members to support the conduct of the 2015 POPCEN by submitting the 2015 Census Commitment Form to the PSA. She also announced the ongoing recruitment for enumerators and data encoders for the census.#
