BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Jan 16 (PIA) – Local candidates here have signified their full support for the conduct of peaceful, fair and credible elections on May this year.

Several local candidates from the municipal to the provincial level participated in the Unity Walk and Prayer Rally over the weekend which was conducted by the Philippine National Police(PNP) at the provincial capitol in this town.

The activities included an inter-faith prayer, lighting of the unity candle and messages from Governor Luisa Cuaresma, Police Senior Supt. Valfrie Tabian, Engineer Perla Upano, provincial director of the Department of Interior and Local Government(DILG) and lawyer Abraham Asuncion, provincial election supervisor.

“The activity aims to promote and heighten the awareness among the voters and candidates inorder to solicit their support in ensuring the successful and meaningful conduct of the Secured and Fair Elections(SAFE 2013),” Tabian said.

Religious leaders, local candidates, government employees and several members of various organizations also participated in the singing of the pledge of commitment for the SAFE 2013.

Tabian also expressed optimism that the conduct of the May 2013 elections in the province will be a peaceful one considering that the province is a poll hotspot-free area compared to other provinces.

During the elections, some 233,998 registered voters in Nueva Vizcaya which increased by 665 will cast their votes in 1,519 precincts and 403 clustered precincts in the coming May 2013 elections.
