CABARROGUIS, Quirino, April 18 (PIA) — To ensure smooth elections on May 13, the Commission on Elections here will hold a committee conference with the Quirino Police Provincial Office, Department of Education, municipal election officers, municipal treasurers and Precinct Count Optical Scan) or PCOS machines technicians next week to assess the ongoing preparations for the said event.

Lawyer Manuel Castillo, provincial election supervisor, said they will discuss their deployment plans and other problems that might affect the conduct of the second automated elections.

Castillo added they will also address the problems of transmission of results in areas where cellular site signal is weak to avoid delay of transmission of election results.

“It’s either we will provide these areas with broadband global area network (BGAN) or the BEIS will bring the machine to the nearest barangay that has signal so that they can transmit the results,” Castillo explained.

The election supervisor also assured the readiness of the teachers who will serve as BEIs and PCOS technicians saying that they were already trained last month.

“We are now waiting for the arrival of the PCOS machines for the sealing to be conducted on May 6,” Castillo said.

As to the other election paraphernalia, Castillo said the computerized lists of voters and other accountable forms are now ready. The official ballots, he said, will be delivered to the province next week.
