TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan—With the aim to support the displaced Higher Education Institution (HEI) personnel because of the implementation of K to 12 Program, the Department of Labor and Employment – Regional Office No. 2 (DOLE 2) is continuously providing financial and employment assistancethrough its DOLE Adjustment Measures Program.

Jessie Pundao, who was a displaced teacher of FL Vargas College, is one of the 6 fully assisted financially by the K to 12 DOLE AMP and is now a Police Officer 1 of the Philippine National Police.He received amonthly financial support of ₱8,000.00 for 6 months.

The financial support of DOLE 2 for displaced HEI personnel depends on the nature of appointment and the prevailing median salary when the beneficiary was still working. The said financial support will last for 3 months for non-permanent and 6 months for permanent. In case of non-permanent personnel having no other source of income, they shall be entitled for 6 months financial assistance.

Aside from Pundao, June Cusipag and Fernando Buenaflor, Jr., two (2) other beneficiaries of the program are still on the process of selection under the Provincial Government of Cagayanfor full time employment.

As of today, a total of 6 displaced HEI personnel and beneficiary of the K to 12 DOLE AMP have fully availed the Financial Support for the duration of 6 months.

With the implementation of K to 12, some HEI personnel are affected due to lesser college enrollment. The K to 12 DOLE AMP is part of the government’s Inter-Agency Mitigation Measures to assist displaced HEI personnel during their transition towards full time or self-employment through financial support, employment facilitation, and training and livelihood.

According to DOLE Regional Director, Manuel C. Roldan, the program is intended to help the affected HEI personnel during the transition period of the implementation of K to 12 Program.

“The program serves as a safety-net that provides unemployment-related benefit schemes to displaced HEI personnel,” Roldan said.

He then encourages other displaced HEI personnel to report at the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) or DOLE 2 to avail of the K to 12 DOLE AMP. (END/JVP/RBE).
