BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Feb 28 (PIA) — Farmers in Kasibu town have asked government agencies here for financial assistance to operationalize their proposed citrus wine-processing project.
Engineer Henry Balangatan, district head of the Department of Labor and Employment(DOLE) said they will be visiting the proponents of the project in Barangay Malabing in Kasibu town to check and further study the citrus farmers’ wine processing project.
He said they are also coordinating with the departments of Science and Technology, Trade and Industry, Agriculture and the provincial government for possible funding support for the project.
“There is a possibility that the citrus wine-processing project in Kasibu will be given funding assistance. In this way, the proponents will benefit more from their project through technology trainings and funding,” he said.
The project, Balangatan said, has been proposed as an alternative scheme to accommodate the oversupply of citrus products during its peak season.
Barangay Malabing in Kasibu town serves as the major producer of citrus varieties which makes Nueva Vizcaya the citrus capital of the north.
