TUGUEGARAO CITY, March 12 (PIA) — The Cagayan State University (CSU), Carig Campus, launched a writing project called Project WAW (Writing-A-Worktext) to improve the performance of students in the classroom.

In a simple ceremony which opened the workshop on worktext writing, CSU Carig Campus Executive Officer Arthur G. Ibañez said the project will offer good opportunities for faculty members to develop textbooks with a local touch that will ultimately strengthen the performance of students in the class.

“The reason why there are bland and boring classes is because students do not have something to make themselves busy with inside the class,” Ibañez said.

The instructional materials that the faculty members are expected to develop will be loaded with lessons and activities that will empower the learners and get them engaged actively with the professors and the other students, he said.

“I fully support the project because this is very relevant to the ongoing accreditation activities at the university,” he added.

Ibañez expressed optimism that the scheme, the teachers can come up with materials which publishing companies might find worthy of publishing.
