CABARROGGUIS, Quirino, Jan. 5 (PIA)–The Quirino Police Provincial Office (QPPO) has reported a 280 percent accomplishment in its tree planting activities under the Pulis Makakalikasan: 10 Milyong Puno Pamana sa Kinabukasan project in support to the EO 26 or the National Greening Program of the national government.

The QPPO targeted to plant 18,546 trees from February 1, 2012 to January 31, 2013, wherein each of the 281 personnel was required to plant six trees every month.

“We have already planted 52,046 trees or 280 percent of different species like mahogany, mango, rambutan, jackgruit, coffee and others,” QPPO Chief Domingo R. Lucas said. “The QPPO hopes to achieve 300 percent accomplishment by February 2013.”

The trees are the QPPO’s contribution to the PNP’s target of planting 10 million trees across the country for 12 months under its ‘Pulis Makakalikasan, 10 Milyong Puno Pamana sa Kinabukasan’ thrust .

They were planted at the QPPO compound, different municipal police stations, schools, reservoirs, roadsides and in the areas identified by the DENR for the NGP. A nursery was also established where different tree species including vegetables are propagated.
