The Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC), through its Project Monitoring Team (PMT), conducted a field monitoring visit (FMV) to ongoing and recently completed road and bridge projects along Daang Maharlika, from Nueva Vizcaya to Isabela and Cagayan, from February 23 to 27, 2026.
The FMV covered 37 road and bridge projects, implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), involving widening, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and replacement. This includes a follow-up visit to bridges inspected on November 18-20, 2025.
During the visit, the DPWH project engineers provided updates on implementation status. They also discussed key challenges, which include right-of-way acquisition, delays in securing necessary permits and clearances, plan variations, and weather-related disruptions.

The Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) of the Cagayan Valley Regional Development Council inked a Partnership Agreement (PA) with the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) during the 2026 National Women’s Month Regional Kick-off Activity held today, March 2, 2026, at the Santiago Sports Arena, Brgy. Baluarte, Santiago City.
The PA aims to advance gender mainstreaming in the region through collaborative undertakings, provision of technical assistance, and policy support. These efforts include: (a) promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment; (b) implementing gender-responsive policies and programs; and (c) strengthening institutional mechanisms.

The Regional Development Council 2 – Economic Development Committee (RDC2-EDC) conducted its first quarter regular meeting on February 26, 2026 via Zoom.
The meeting highlighted the proposal of the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Promoting Sustainability and Productivity, Enterprise Resilience, and Upscaling (ProSPER) Project for endorsement to the RDC. Ms. Ragel Tacazon, Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist of DTI Region 2 presented the proposal, emphasizing its goal to strengthen and modernize the agro-food industry by supporting small and medium-size agri-fishery cooperatives and agribusinesses in upscaling their operations and increasing income.

Regional Director Dionisio C. Ledres, Jr. of DEPDev Region 2 underscored the vital role of government and the academe in preparing a future-ready workforce to meet future industry needs, during the 26th Annual Regional Business Expo on 13 February 2026 in Tuguegarao City.
RD Ledres said that the future of work will be shaped by technological advancements and shifting workforce expectations, evolving rapidly and dictated by global economic trends. These include the internet of things, artificial intelligence and automation, biotechnology, flexible work models, growth of gig economy, human-machine collaboration, and green jobs, among others.
To prepare future-ready workforce, he recommended that the academe innovate and modernize curriculum by integrating AI, data analytics, data science, and digital marketing. The Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC), a committee under the Regional Development Council 2 (RDC2), and the Isabela State University (ISU) officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to operationalize the Regional Gender and Development Research and Learning Center (RGADC-RLC) at the ISU Echague Campus in Isabela, on February 2, 2026.
ISU President, Prof. Boyet L. Batang, and Department of Science and Technology Region 2 (DOST2) Regional Director and RGADC Chairperson, Dr. Virginia G. Bilgera, led the MOA signing attended by ISU officials and representatives from the regional offices of DOST2, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM2), and the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev2).
The partnership is among the pioneering collaborations between a State University and the RGADC to establish a Research and Learning Center focused on Gender and Development in the country.
