ILAGAN CITY, Isabela, Feb. 9 (PIA) — The Land Transportation Office – Ilagan City district has intensified the implementation of the motorcycle helmet law.
LTO enforcers have been checking motorcycle riders passing the national road to ensure that they are following the regulations imposed by the agency on wearing the prescribed helmets.
Romeo Sales, LTO-Ilagan district office chief, said the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has coordinated with the LTO in ensuring that motorcycle riders are wearing the DTI’s prescribed helmets with Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) stickers.
Sales said that since their intensified implementation of motorcycle law last month, they have apprehended around 16 violators.
The wearing of ICC marked helmets are prescribed to motorists to ensure their safety.
Violators are fined ranging from P1,500 to P10,000 depending on the gravity of traffic violation and non-wearing of prescribed motorcycle helmets.
