BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Feb 21(PIA) — A five-day volunteerism event dubbed Bayani Challenge next month will be focused in the town of Dupax del Norte in this province, organizers here said.
Dupax del Norte is a third-class municipality inhabited by the Isinais, one of the 15 tribal groups in Nueva Vizcaya.
Its barangays are Belance, Binuangan, Bitnong, Bulala, Inaban, Ineangan, Lamo, Mabasa, Macabenga, Malasin, Munguia, New Gumiad, Oyao, Parai, and Yabbi
The Bayani Challenge 2013 is a project of the Presidential Communications Operations Office through its volunteerism program Pilipinas Natin.
The challenge is a five-day gathering of volunteers where bayanihan spirit and love for the country are showcased through building of homes, schools, health missions, climate change mitigation activities, among other activities.
During the five-day event, the volunteers will be deployed in GK build site, particularly in Barangay Mabasa in Dupax del Norte town where some 100 housing units funded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will be constructed.
The GK site was acquired, prepared and developed by the local government units to relocate squatters living in hazardous communities.
Willfred Wross Delizo, executive consultant on housing of the provincial government, said that in addition to the construction of houses, mobile medical missions will also be brought to poor communities while tree planting activities will be done in various villages in coordination with the local officials.
Likewise, feeding programs, tutorial studies, art activities and proper hygiene programs will also be delivered to the poor children in various villages.
