BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Feb 26 (PIA) — Members of the youth organization in the province have vowed their full support to Bayani Challenge 2013 which will be held sometime next month.

The event, which seeks to attract around 2,000 volunteers in the province features a five-day gathering of volunteers where bayanihan spirit and love for the country are showcased through building of homes, schools, health missions, climate change mitigation activities, among other activities.

Aileen Ellamil, an engineer and Gawad Kalinga(GK) provincial head said core shelter housing units will also be built in Dupax del Norte town aside from the housing units within the GK areas.

“These core shelter units will serve as safe haven for villagers living in high risk areas such as near rivers and mountains. These house will be built to provide them with safe and comfortable abode,” she said.

“We fully support the event. We are committing 45 teams for the event,” said Emerlyn Jane Galanta, provincial president of the Sangguniang Kabataan(SK).

The 45 teams will be composed of 15 – 20 participants per team which will join other volunteers at the convergence site in Dupax del Norte town.

She made the statement during the Bayani Challenge youth forum and media launch Saturday at the Ammungan Hall here which was attended by close to a hundred youths, local officials and media practitioners.

Dupax del Norte town mayor Clarita Egmin-Epi also welcomed the participants for the upcoming event. “We are very glad that our municipality has been chosen as the venue for the volunteerism event. We will do our part in ensuring the success of the project,” she said.

The Bayani Challenge 2013 is a project of the Presidential Communications Operations Office through its volunteerism program Pilipinas Natin.
