ILAGAN CITY, Isabela, Feb 26(PIA) – The provincial fishery office distributed 25 fish cages and fingerlings to fish farmer trainees who have undergone a three-day training on fish cage design and management last week.

Nimfa Aquino, provincial fishery officer, said the 25 fish farmers who completed the training were given fish cages to be used in their respective fish ponds for bigger production.

The training was held last Wednesday at San Pablo, Isabela where the provincial fishery office is established.

Aquino said the fish cage design and management training is a measure to improve the fish production in the province using fish cages as the province’s fish supply is not enough in the market.

She said the training was requested by fish farmers in the province to increase their production as the supply of fish in the province is insufficient based on reports receive by the agriculture office.

The fishery office is planning to organize an association of Isabela Fish farmers once the second batch of the same training shall have been completed.

The second batch of the same training is set next week with the same number of trainees and the same privilege will be provided for them.
