TUGUEGARAO CITY, March 4 (PIA) — Members of the Cagayan Valley Occupational Safety and Health Network (CV-OSHNet) elected its new set of officers for 2013 in their general assembly on February 16, 2013.

The newly elected officers, who took their oath of office before Regional Director Atty. Sixto Rodriguez, Jr. of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), are : Lilian Cacayurin of the Cagayan Electric Cooperative I as president; Mark Luke Rivera of the North Matrix Development Corporation as vice-president; Oliver T. Baccay of the Philippine Information Agency as secretary; Elmer Ducusin of the Universal Leaf Philippines as auditor; and Ramon Narte, a construction contractor as public relations officer.

The CV-OSHNet was established in 2011 by virtue of DOLE Administrative Order 53 mandating each region to create occupational safety and health network to promote cooperation and solidarity among regional occupational safety and health organizations towards the attainment of zero accident in the workplaces.

Lilian Cacayurin said the network, in its second administration, will take off in the conduct of training for safety officers to enhance further their knowledge and capabilities in ensuring safety of workers in their workplaces.

“We already scheduled series of trainings for the second and third quarters of the year. In fact we are preparing now for the Construction Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) which will be conducted April for interested construction workers,” Cacayurin said.

She further stated that they conduct advocacies on safety and health to raise the standards of the implementation of the occupational safety and health programs and to contribute further to the attainment of zero accident in the workplaces.

“We also encourage public who are engaged directly or indirectly into occupational safety to be members of the network to serve as advocates of safety in the workplaces,” she added.

Members of the CV-OSHNet are from both private and government institutions who are safety officers as well as advocates of occupational safety and health in the region.
