ILAGAN CITY, Isabela, March 8 (PIA) – Three towns in Isabela have conducted simultaneous peace covenant signing as part of the Commission and Elections (Comelec) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) objective to attain a secure and fair elections in Isabela.

The peace covenant signing were held in the towns of San Manuel, Sto. Tomas and Gamu.

Police Senior Superintendent Franklin Moises Mabanag said the signing of a peace covenant is an activity encouraging local candidates to peacefully abide by the Comelec’s regulations to attain peaceful conduct of national and local elections on May 13.

The peace covenant signing is also an avenue where the police encourage firearms owners to surrender or deposit their guns and ammunitions to the police to ensure that no violence will erupt before and during the elections using guns.

Mabanag said the Isabela police fully supports the move of the Comelec, the local police and the church, as this activity will be an avenue where candidates will pledge for a peaceful and orderly elections.

Mabanag urged other police stations in Isabela who did not yet conducted peace covenant signing to spearhead the activity in coordination with the Comelec in order that the elections will be peacefully proceed without hassle as scheduled.
