TUGUEGARAO CITY, March 22 (PIA) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 2 (DSWD-2) has recognized the efforts of the Informers Club (i-Club) and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region 2 in communicating effectively the social services programs and projects to the beneficiaries.
In the recognition held during the conduct of the Tipon-Tipan sa PIA, involving different line agencies, newly installed Regional Director Violeta Cruz of the DSWD recognized the active role and involvement of the media practitioners who are members of the i-Club in various advocacy campaigns of the department which enables public to understand and have access to the social services programs of the government.
She also expressed gratitude to the i-Club members for their generosity in providing school supplies for the Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries and for bringing a medical, dental and surgery mission team in Penablanca, Cagayan last year which benefited thousands of poor families who cannot afford medical check-up in the health facilities.
“Your generosity and unstinted support to the department’s social reform protection programs paved way for a wider reach of listenership and readership for clients and partners to understand and support the DSWD’s thrust and priorities,” Cruz emphasized.
Aside from the i-club, the PIA was also recognized by the same agency for providing DSWD and avenue for discussion and information of its programs and accomplishments through the Tipon-Tipan program, a regular forum for media, which enables public to regularly have an update on the department’s program through radios, television networks and print media.
Last month, the Bible Readers Society (BREAD), a group of young bible reading advocates, recognizes the effort of both i-Club and PIA for initiating the seed potting activity for environmental protection and preservation as an effort to help combat climate change.
