BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya, March 22 (PIA) — At least 300 poor families in this town will be given free medical services from March 23 to 27 with the conduct of the national government’s Bayani Challenge 2013 for health.
Dr. Antony Cortez, Municipal Health Officer (MHO) said coordination works are now being done in two barangays such as Sto. Domingo and Aliaga to encourage poor families to avail of the free health program.
“These families have been chosen through the conduct of the National Household Targetting System (NHTS). These families will be the priority of the event,” Cortez said.
Also known as Lakbay Buhay Kalusugan – RP on Wheels, the event features medical and minor surgical missions, health promotion and other unique activities that will further raise the knowledge and understanding of the public about health, wellness, among others in communities.
The Lakbay Buhay Kalusugan aims to educate villagers on safe motherhood, Garantisadong Pambata, family planning and PhilHealth benefits including the provision of health services for poor families and to mobilize stakeholders, organizations and individuals to work for health promotion.
Other health services also include medical services for pregnant, postpartum and under five children, variety show and dental and minor surgical services for all ages.
Floro Urata, DOH information officer said the event will also feature volunteerism work among government personnel and private sector organizations.
He said the event will be conducted with the assistance of concerned local government units and civic organizations.
The Lakbay Buhay Kalusugan is part of the overall activities of the Bayani Challenge 2013 in Nueva Vizcaya which will also put to the test volunteerism efforts of various sectors in building houses, refurbishing school, tree planting and lectures for children among others.
These activities will also be held in Dupax del Norte town and in Aritao town, two major sites for the yearly event which is spearheaded by the Pilipinas Natin movement, a special project under the office of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and Gawad Kalinga.
