SDC2 Chair and Quirino Governor Honorable Dakila Carlo E. Cua presided the 124th Regular Business Meeting of the Social Development Committee (SDC) via zoom on March 20, 2024.
The Committee endorsed the following social development concerns and policies to the RDC:
1) Philippines: Health System Resilience Project (HSRP) of the Department of Health, which aims to improve utilization of quality health services at the LGU level, and enhance health emergency prevention, preparedness and response in the province of Isabela.
2) Support to House Bill No. 8269, “An Act Protecting the Rights of Internally-Displaced Persons (IDP) and Penalizing the Acts of Arbitrary Internal Displacements” which seeks to adopt a human rights-based approach for the promotion and protection of the rights of IDPs during and after displacement.
3) “Panahon ng Pagkilos: Community-Based Climate Action under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS)” which aims to deliver social services that address the impacts of disasters, and on leveraging its experience in community mobilization.
4) Regional Population and Development Plan of Action (RPD-POA) 2023-2028 of the Commission on Population and Development (CPD II) which contains the critical population issues in the region as they relate to the emerging development contexts and the corresponding strategic policy and program interventions.
Other agenda items discussed include the 1) updates on the implementation of Project ClassHome of the Department of Education; 2) Regional Plan of Action for Children (RPAC) 2023-2028; 3) Discussion on the offering of courses on child care and other specialized needs in the region, and 4) SDC 2023 Accomplishment Report.
