SAN MTEO, Isabela, April 2, (PIA) — The Bureau of Fire – Isabela was adjudged as champion during the Cagayan Valley Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – Fire Prevention Olympics held in this town last week .

The Fire Prevention Olympics was the highlight of fire prevention month in March with the theme “Sunog at Sakuna Paghandaan, Kalikasan ay Pangalagaan nang Matamasa ang Pag-unlad ng Bayan”.

BFP-Isabela emerged first place as it had shown exemplary performance in a mock fire prevention activities like immediate responding to fire incidents and in rescue operations. Other winners were BFP-Cagayan, BFP- Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino.

Among the contested activities that were participated by firemen and fire brigade volunteers are laying and connecting of hoses, engine reeling techniques to effectively deliver the pressurized water to the hoses, rescue operation techniques and many other contested activities prepared by the organizers.

San Mateo fire marshal Emiliano Garcia said the fire prevention Olympics objective is to strengthen the camaraderie and cooperation between the BFP personnel and fire volunteer brigades.

Garcia said the activity also aims to raise their level of preparedness and proficiency as partners in suppressing all destructive fires and other emergencies both man-made and natural occurrences.
