BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya, April 9 (PIA) — The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC) has already enrolled 85 percent of their total target families in the province, officials here said.
“For this year, we have already accomplished 85 percent of our target. Right after the elections, we will closely coordinating with local officials to orient them on how to enroll their council members to the PhilHealth program,” said Rey Ferrer, PhilHealth provincial officer.
At present, PhilHealth has already more than 32,000 families where contributions for the half of this figure was shouldered by local government units and local government executives while the other half was classified as covered by the National Household Targetting System (NHTS) and subsidized by the national government.
Ferrer, said that they will be targeting capable members of the communities as potential enrollees to the PhilHealth program which comprise 15 percent of their remaining target sector in the province.
“We are now identifying individual-paying members because this is our major focus this year,” Ferrer said.
According to Ferrer, the completion of the general enrolment of all sectors to the PhilHealth program will further contribute to the attainment of universal health care coverage among Filipinos through the administration of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III.
He added that they are now doubling their efforts in order to attain the ‘No Balance Billing Policy” for accredited health care providers and centers in the province.
