BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, May 9(PIA) – The Land Transportation Office(LTO) here has surpassed its more than P43.3 million 2011 revenue collection with its 2012 total take of more than P45.3 million.
Claro Labitoria, LTO district chief said the increase in their 2012 agency collection was due to the increased compliance of motor vehicle owners and operators on transport laws.
“One of the major factors that led to our increased revenue collection for last year was the implementation of the OPLAN Verification of Identity and Sticker Authenticity(VISA) ordinance,” he said during the recent “TungtongantiTribuBiskayano” press conference here .
Approved by the provincial board sometime last year, the OPLAN VISA was conceptualized by the Philippine National Police(PNP) to address the killings perpetrated by so called ‘riding-in-tandem’ hired assasins.
OPLAN VISA requires all motorcycle owners to register their units or renew registration to the LTO before the will be given with ordinance stickers.
“This ordinance helped us in encouraging our motorcycle owners to legally register their own because their units will be impounded if they fail to get VISA sticker,” Labitoria explained.
From January to March this year, he said the No Car Registration/Official Receipt remains as the top one violations among motorists in the province with 261 total apprehensions followed by the other violations such as No Helmet -152, Driving without License – 117, Seatbelt Not Worn – 108, Driving with Special Permit – 89, Driving with Delinquent License – 79, Invalid MV Registration – 66, Disregarding Traffic Officer – 53, Defective Accessories – 49 and No Early Warning Device at 42 violators.
“We are appealing to the public to please always comply with our laws on transportation because we will enforce them to ensure your safety and the passengers in general,” Labitoria said.
