Another government agency had been welcomed in the Regional Government Center (RGC) of the Cagayan Valley Region this year with the groundbreaking ceremony of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) – District North Eastern Luzon (CGDNELZN) yesterday, 29 May, 2013. This was graced by no less than PCG Commandant Rear Admiral (RADM) Rodolfo D. Isorena PCG.

“This groundbreaking ceremony is a first step to achieving our goals and mandates, exhibiting our efforts to improve on our facilities and equipments, institute responsive policies in addressing maritime issues in the North Eastern Luzon and the preservation and protection of maritime resources in adherence to highest standards,” said RADM Isorena.

He also expressed his deepest appreciation to the agencies and individuals, particularly the Regional Development Council (RDC) 2, RDC 2-Regional Government Center Management Committee (RGCMC), the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the extended support and assistance especially in the acquisition of the lot for the North Eastern Luzon District Office.

The total lot area is 2,680 square meters with a fund allocation of P 39M from the FY 2013 PCG budget, is intended for the 4-storey PCG building. The PCG is given two years to complete the construction including all improvement its area.

Other officials present also include Capt. Leovigildo G. Panopio PCG, CGDNELZ Commander; Capt. Joselito F. Dela Cruz PCG, Chief of Coast Guard Staff and former CGDNELZ Commander; CDR Jude Thadeus M. Besinga PCG, PCG Command Chaplain; DPWH Regional Director Melvin B. Navarro; and NEDA OIC-ARD Engr. Ronilo H. Bulseco.
