During the reorganization of the Regional Development Council 2 last September 27, the members selected from among the Local Chief Executives (LCEs) and Private Sector Representatives (PSRs) nominees for whom His Excellency President Benigno Aquino III shall choose and appoint the RDC 2 Chair and Co-Chair.

The august body nominated and endorsed: Quirino Gov. Junie E. Cua and Cagayan Gov. Alvaro T. Antonio from the LCEs, and Engr. Alfonso Taccad, Mrs. Corona Borja and Mr. Emelito Gonzales from the PSRs.

The appointed nominees by the President shall assume as Chairman and Co-Chairman of the Council on the day their appointments are signed. As provided in the Implementing Rules and Regulations of EO 325, the Chairman shall be responsible in presiding over the meetings of the Council, the Executive and the Advisory Committees; call the attention of the implementing agencies and LGUs to implementation problems as identified and deliberated upon by the Council; supervise the monitoring of the implementation of major inter-provincial and region-wide development programs, projects and activities; direct the formulation of comprehensive regional plans and investment programming activities; and lead and supervise all activities of the Council, among others.

NEDA 2 OIC-Regional Director MaryAnne E.R. Darauay expressed her hope that the President shall appoint an RDC Chair and Co-Chair this term. “Through our reorganization this year, we hope that we will be able to lead our region further in terms of economic gains and increased social welfare and even empower inclusive participation of the community in the process,” said Director Darauay.
