Aparri, one of the oldest towns in the Province of Cagayan will observe its 332nd Patronal Town Fiesta honoring St. Peter Thelmo and the 4th Aramang Festival from May 1-12, 2012.
May 11, 1680 was the beginning of the Eccleciastical Government of Aparri when the town was separated from Nueva Segovia. St. Peter Thelmo was selected as the Patron and from then on its old name “Aparrian” was changed to Aparri to make short the pronunciation.
The Aramang Festival came into fruition to highlight Aparri’s one-town-one-product, the world famous pink soft-shelled shrimp. The pink shrimp is now being exported as shrimp paste and as dried shrimp use for enhancing the flavor of cooked dishes.
