TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan—Some 53 members of the Gattaran East Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (GETODA) receivedlivelihood assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment – Regional Office No. 2 (DOLE 2) on 25 February 2013.
In a simple awarding ceremony that was held at DOLE 2, Gattaran Municipal Treasurer, Ana Gammad together with GETODA President Rodolfo Pattung received the check amounting to P330,000.
DOLE 2 Regional Director, Atty. Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr. encouraged the officers of the GETODA to make use of the livelihood assistance for its intended purpose.
“Your members elected you because of your capacity to lead them. The assistance we have given you is just a small amount, though it is small, if implemented well, will grow and will help augment your income. If we see that there is a development of our assistance in the future, we might be inspired to give you more assistance,” Atty. Rodriguez said.
The association will venture into sales of motorcycle parts and service. The GETODA members will benefit from the business through profit sharing and discounted prices of motorcycle parts and service.
Meanwhile, the GETODA represented by its president was elated by the livelihood assistance.
“We are happy that at last, your assistance to our association is now in our hands. We thank you very much for this support. As president of the GETODA, I promise to the DOLE 2 Officials that we will safeguard this fund and make our project profitable,” Pattung stated.
As counterpart of the project, the Local Government Unit of Gattaran, Cagayan conducted a social preparation and entrepreneurship development training to the officers of the GETODA.
