CABARROGUIS, Quirino, Jan. 24 (PIA) — The National Statistics Office here said that everything is set for the 2012 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries which will commence next month.
Engr. Cherry Grace Agustin, Provincial Statistics Officer said the survey is conducted every 10 years and the reference period for this year’s survey is from January to December 2012.
“We are in our third level training for the enumerators who will be deployed in the municipalities. They will be oriented on the use of census modular approach and the barangay module which is introduced for the first time,” said Engr. Agustin.
She explained that the enumerators will be listing and interviewing all households to determine the presence of household members who were farmers, fishermen, or aquafarm operators for the period January to December 2012. These household members will be interviewed for the details of their agricultural, aquacultural, and fishing activities.
The barangay captain in the locality will also be interviewed for information on the presence or availability of facilities, input dealers and service providers related to agriculture, aquaculture, and fisheries in the barangay.
“The data will be the bases of our policymakers and planners in formulating their plans and programs for the socio-economic development of our country,” Engr. Agustin further explained.
The census also serves as source of comprehensive statistics on agriculture and fisheries for the use of the general public, government, business industry, and research and academic institutions.
The census enumeration will be conducted from February 25 to April 13, 2013.
