RDC2-IDC endorses the country’s longest twin-tunnel road

The Dalton Pass East Alignment Road Project (DPEARP) is nearing reality after securing endorsement from the RDC2-Infrastructure Development Committee (RDC2-IDC) during its 4th Quarter Regular Business Meeting on November 14, 2023 in Tuguegarao City. The DPEARP will showcase the country’s longest twin-tunnel road of 6.12 kilometers, which is part of the 23-kilometer road proposed to be funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The DPEARP’s total road length is 77.29 kilometers, with the remaining 54.29 kilometers to be funded locally as the Philippine Government’s counterpart.
The project is under review by the Investment Coordination Committee (ICC) and is expected to be approved by the NEDA Board early next year. It is also included in the Infrastructure Flagship Projects under the Build, Better, More Program of the current administration.

RDC2-EDC backs SPLIT Project Extension

The Economic Development Committee of the RDC2 favorably endorsed the extension of the period of implementation of the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling (SPLIT) Project during its fourth quarter meeting held virtually on 20 November 2023. An extension will allow the proponents sufficient time to disribute e-titles to over a million agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARB) nationwide. The project aims to improve the ARB’s land tenure security and stabilize their property rights.
The EDC also discussed the economic chapters of the 2023 Regional Development Report and the updating of the Regional Development Investment Program.

RDC2-RGADC bags five out of eight GADtimpala awards of PCW

To give due recognition to the commendable achievements, commitments, and advocacies of all regions that champion Gender and Development (GAD), the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) conferred the GADtimpala Awards to outstanding Regional Development Councils (RDCs), Regional Gender and Development Committees (RGADCs), and individuals. The awards aim to recognize the contributions of regional GAD mechanisms and individuals in advancing gender mainstreaming at the regional and local levels.
RDC Cagayan Valley (RDC2) bagged the GADchievement Award (AlaGAD ng Pagpapatupad) for championing exceptional policies that exemplify unwavering dedication in advancing gender equality and inclusive development, and the Gender Inclusive Regional Development Plan Award (Alagad ng Pagplaplano) for mainstreaming gender and development perspectives in the formulation of the Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2023-2028 of Cagayan Valley Region.
The RGADC2 also received the GAD Recognition System Award (AlaGAD ng Pagkilala) for institutionalizing the Outstanding GAD Champions

Region 02 Wins 3rd PSA Quiz Bee National Championship

Ms. Ma. Gloria L. Daluddung, Supervising Economic Development Specialist of NEDA2, represented Region 02 and emerged as the National Champion at the 3rd Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Quiz Bee National Finals held today, October 5, at the Century Park Hotel, Malate, Manila.
Ms. Daluddung bested 16 other contestants from different government agencies nationwide in the three-round quiz bee.
The PSA Quiz Bee is an annual event that aims to promote awareness of the importance of statistics in national development. The competition is open to all Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) – member agencies/offices.

NEDA Cagayan Valley orients LPMCs of Batanes on RPMES and Project Development

The NEDA2, as the Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) secretariat, oriented the members of the LPMCs of Batanes on the Regional Project Monitoring and Evaluation System (RPMES) and Project Development on May 10, 2023 in Basco, Batanes. This activity enhanced the knowledge of participants on the fundamentals of RPMES to include the scope and framework, functions and responsibilities of LPMC members, monitoring guide and problem-solving process.

The session on Project Development discussed project preparation concepts and the major programs and projects of the province for possible funding from 2023-2028. The activity also served as an avenue for LPMCs to share their practices in monitoring and coordinating with project implementers and contractors.
