The Regional Development Council 2, through its Regional Research and Development, and Innovation Committee (RRDIC), successfully conducted the 2nd Regional Research Dissemination Forum on July 29, 2025 at the Pulsar Hotel and Restaurant, Capitol Hills, Peñablanca, Cagayan.

The forum aims to highlight innovative research studies, raise awareness on the national innovation agenda, the regional research priority areas, and current innovations in various sectors. It also gathered research institutions, government agencies, and the private sector to connect and collaborate towards addressing research development gaps in the region.

The Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) tackled the bottlenecks affecting implementation of major projects in the region during its Second Quarter Business Meeting held on 16 June 2025 at the Pamegafanan Hall, Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Region 2 in Tuguegarao City.

Key agenda during the meeting include the status of port development projects in Claveria, Aparri, and Calayan in Cagayan, and Basco and Sabtang in Batanes.  Engr. Ar-Jay P. Mayo of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) – Port Management Office Northern Luzon attributed the delays to typhoons and procurement failures.

RPMC Chair DEPDev Regional Director Dionisio C. Ledres, Jr. said that the port development projects are considered priority projects in the region. The Infrastructure Development Committee (IDC) of the Regional Development Council held its Second Quarter Meeting on June 5, 2025, at the Pamegafanan Hall, Department of Economy, Planning, and Development Region 2 in Tuguegarao City.

Aiming to improve the competency and absorptive capacity of the Police Regional Training Center (PRTC) in Region 2, the IDC endorsed the proposed PRTC Training Complex in Cauayan City. Police Major Angelan Gulapan asserted that the Training Center seeks to upgrade existing facilities, which have significantly deteriorated since its establishment in 1975.

The Department of Public Works and Highways also presented the current condition of existing bridges across the region. Engr. Cecil M.
